Intrigued by legendary mysteries and driven by curiosity, Josh Gates is on a mission for answers.
Expedition Unknown chronicles his global adventures as he investigates iconic unsolved events, lost cities, buried treasures and other puzzling stories. Armed with a degree in archaeology, a quick wit and a thirst for action, Gates studies recent developments before embarking on a detailed exploration. Whether he's trekking through Fiji in search of Amelia Earhart's remains or diving the deep seas of Panama to locate Captain Morgan's pirate ship, Gates' expeditions lead him one step closer to the truth behind the legend.
In the first episode, Josh Gates travels to the remote and landmine-riddled jungles of Cambodia to investigate the lost city of the Khmer Empire and search for a mystical relic that over one thousand years ago gave its God king the power to incinerate his enemies.
Other episodes see Gates journey across the American Midwest in search of the legendary loot of Jesse James; retracing the steps of Nazi soldiers from Russia to Germany in search of the Amber Chamber, which was stolen during World War II; trekking the stone-paved Inca Trail, ascending 20,000 feet through the Andes and into the Peruvian Amazon in search of a mythical city of gold, and more.
