Brand New Season
Starts Thursday 31 January at 8:30pm AEDT/NZ
The ultimate treasure hunt is back on as Outback Opal Hunters returns with a new season, following crews of resilient opal miners on their mission to unearth a fortune in some of Australia’s harshest landscapes. From Lightning Ridge (NSW), Opalton (QLD), opal mecca, Coober Pedy (SA) and now Laverton (WA), the series is at the forefront of this unique industry where the stakes are very real, as these crews risk it all in their pursuit of these precious stones.
Old crews return, but Season 2 also brings some new faces. Back in the game are The Rookies, Justin Lang and Daniel Becker who get some help from Justin’s fiancée Becky MacAllan; The Opal Queen, Kelly Tishler is joined by her brother-in-law Mark and friend Dwayne; Col’s Crew, Col Duff, Aaron Grotjahn and Greg Geran are back on a mission; as well as brothers, Peter and Mick Cooke. Plus as this season heads to Laverton in outback Western Australia, there’s a new crew in the mix; The Piromanskis aka The Fire Crew. Husband and wife, Pete and Vikki Piromanski team up with their son Adam, a firefighter, and his partner Cassidy Ricketts to hunt for rare Fire Opal.
Opals are one of the most valuable gemstones in market – a single piece can be worth millions of dollars and 90% of the world’s entire supply lies hidden beneath the searing Australian Outback.
The new season is a rollercoaster of triumphs and disasters; new teams, new machines, and new opal. Out here anyone could make a fortune… if they can find it.
